The Amityville Horror (1979)★★★☆☆

Poster

(Spoilers ahead) We’re in the last month of the year, so I feel it’s time to admit something: I’m a sucker for a happy ending.

Sure, I also love a good scare, but I love the warm fuzzy feeling I get when the family dog (and the family) gets out alive.

So I liked this one. I’ve heard the story before and have probably seen this one before years ago. James Brolin and Margot Kidder are both great, the house is sufficiently creepy, and there’s some really good tension built up.

It’s a bit slow throughout but speeds up towards the end. I’d recommend it if you’re into horror movies from the 1970s.
